New certifications and welding qualifications

In 2025, Gruppo Boschetti—particularly its Abruzzo facility—achieved new certifications in the field of welding, further strengthening its position in the market. This milestone aligns with the Group’s strategic goal of responding promptly and effectively to customer needs and current regulatory requirements. In the first quarter of 2025, we achieved the following objectives:

Welding process qualification
A significant achievement was the qualification of the direct resistance spot welding process (212), in compliance with the EN ISO 15614-12:2021 standard. The qualification, registered under the code WPQR-DTC-WPC-A14826-25, covers the full range of thicknesses and joint types for aluminum alloy sheets in group 21, with thicknesses ranging from 1.5 mm to 3 mm.

At the same time, two specialized operators of our spot welding machinery earned their certification as welding operators, further enhancing our in-house expertise and ensuring high-quality standards in production processes.

Expansion of welder qualifications
Another major step was the expansion of welder qualifications, in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 9606 standard. Specifically, we obtained the following:

  • TIG process (141) qualifications for fillet welds (FW) on low-alloy steels (ISO/TR 15608 1.2 – applicable range: groups 1–11), for thicknesses from 1.5 to 3 mm (tested on S355 MC specimens).
  • TIG process (141) qualifications for butt welds (BW) on low-alloy steels (ISO/TR 15608 1.2 – applicable range: groups 1–11), for thicknesses from 1.5 to 3 mm (tested on S355 MC specimens).
  • TIG process (141) qualifications for fillet welds (FW) on stainless steels (ISO/TR 15608 8.1 – applicable range: groups 1–11), for thicknesses from 1.5 to 3 mm (tested on AISI 316 specimens).
  • TIG process (141) qualifications for butt welds (BW) on stainless steels (ISO/TR 15608 8.1 – applicable range: groups 1–11), for thicknesses from 1.5 to 3 mm (tested on AISI 316 specimens).

Existing qualifications
These new certifications are in addition to our existing qualifications, which include:

  • MAG process (135) qualifications for both butt and fillet welds (BW/FW) on low-alloy steels (ISO/TR 15608 1.1 – applicable range: groups 1–11), for thicknesses ≥ 3 mm.
  • MIG process (131) qualifications for both butt and fillet welds (BW/FW) on aluminum alloys (group 22.3 – applicable range: groups 21–22), for thicknesses from 2.5 to 10 mm.
  • TIG process (141) qualifications for both butt and fillet welds (BW/FW) on aluminum alloys (group 21 – applicable range: groups 21–22), for thicknesses from 1 to 4 mm.
  • TIG process (141) qualifications for both butt and fillet welds (BW/FW) on aluminum alloys (group 22.3 – applicable range: groups 21–22), for thicknesses from 2.5 to 10 mm.

Ongoing training: on-the-job learning
As part of Gruppo Boschetti’s ongoing commitment to staff development, “On-the-Job” training sessions with certified external instructors have already been scheduled for April. These sessions will cover:

  • Acceptance criteria for welded parts in compliance with ISO 10042.
  • Analysis of critical issues and process improvement strategies, with a focus on specific production needs.

Resolution of practical questions and operational issues reported by our personnel, to ensure continuous skill enhancement.

These investments in certifications and training represent yet another step forward in strengthening our team’s technical expertise and optimizing our production processes—for the benefit of both product quality and customer satisfaction.
